An Insight On Balance - A Gift From Iceland
This insightful experience occurred in the late 90's when I spent a week in Iceland soaking in the healing waters, hiking, and enjoying the natural beauty of this place and it's people. This was a time in my life when I was meditating and channeling daily along with doing distance healings. The Light was very strong with me at this time and I believe that Iceland was an answer to a call from my Self to my self to reconnect again to the Earth and it's power. I have visited Iceland ten years earlier and was of the belief that the power of the Earth is strong and close to the surface. It is one place in the world in which one can use this power to change oneself in a safe and natural way just by being there and touching to the spirit of the place.
As I was exploring the countryside near the hotel where I was staying, I came upon a large letter, M that was cut in the grass near the edge of the highway and wondered what this was able. I had a strong feeling to stay and explore the area, but decided to come back the next day. I noticed a step way over a fence, but didn't see anything but the typical volcanic lava landscape of this area of Iceland.
Later at the hotel I inquired of the owner if there was anything of interest there and what this M meant. She said that a local man had cut the letter M in the road in memory of his daughter named, Mary. I said nothing, but suspected that it was one of the Rune stone symbols signifying Movement, Progress, or The Horse.
"Ehwaz (M) is a Rune of transit, transition and movement; of physical shifts, new dwelling places, new attitudes or new life. It also signifies movement in the sense of improving or bettering any situation.
There is about this Rune a sense of gradual development and steady progress, with the accompanying notion of slow growth through numerous shifts and changes. This could apply to the growth of a business or to the development of an idea. A relationship may need to undergo changes if it is to live and grow. Moral effort and steadfastness are called for when you draw Movement, another of the cycle runes. As I cultivate my own nature, all else follows"
The Book of Runes by Ralph H. Blum
Now, back to my story. The next day after breakfast, I set out to hike back to the place of the M symbol to cross over the fence and see what was on the other side. I found what I believed to be an ancient temple or man made structure craved out of the lava. The structure was a two chamber structure with one large chamber with an large entrance way with a smaller chamber to the left near the entrance way that had an opening only large enough to crawl through. I got the sense that the small chamber was some sort of ceremonial birthing chamber.
This was a gray day with low hanging black clouds and a light cold rain. As it was a dark day with no sun in sight, I only walked a few yards into the larger chamber. The light dimly filtered back and was almost non-existent toward the back of the room. I decided to inch my way back into the darkness and found a spot to sit and meditate and pray. As was my habit and still is, I begin my prayers with, The Lord's Prayer and then prayed to the Father God, the Mother God, and to God Who is The Essence Of All, including the Mother and the Father. I prayed for the Divine White Light of Heaven to come and illuminate me.
It didn't take long and the entire chamber I was in was illuminated as if someone turned on the lights and I could see the entire chamber clearly. I sat and enjoyed the feeling of calm and certainty and joy that always comes with the Light. I had the feeling that I should get up and explore the small pitch dark chamber. So, I walked over and as I looked in, I was overcome with a feeling of fear. I then heard a voice say to me, "Fear not, no harm will come to you, for we are with you." I have heard this voice many times before and knew that the words were true. I began to crawl through the small opening into the smaller chamber, but stopped exactly half way in. I looked back and saw that my waist line was the dividing line between a bright light and complete darkness and again, I heard that inner voice say, "This is how you must be, one half of the Light and one half of the Earth to be at your greatest power. For to be fully in the Light, you will go mad and to be fully in the Earth energies you will also go mad."
I crawled back out and could see the dark clouds and rain outside the entrance way, yet the large chamber was fully illuminated still. I stayed a few minutes more as I watched the Light recede and the large chamber return to it's former state as it was in as I first entered.
I have often reflected on this event over the years and have interpreted it as a lessen in balance. To strive to be connected to the Heavenly Realm and it's Divine Light while at the same time connected with both feet securely upon our Mother Earth and Her health giving and balancing energies and beneficial spirit helpers. To balance the male and female aspects of my consciousness, to be both God and Man (My interpretation of an Avatar) simultaneously. The symbol of the Tao is a good representation off this state of being.
I have also thought how many sensitives, seers, or those with the second sight have become lost in themselves when making contact with other realms or dimensions. Perhaps, the only difference between the visionary and the madman is that the visionary has connected to an inner strength and wisdom along with having balance in his or her life, whereas the madman relies upon ego and loses his or her way, forgetting to stay connected to the everyday Earth reality while playing in the Stars. Ever look into the eyes of a mentally ill person. Often there is an intensity of light, yet the eyeballs are moving everywhere in a choatic fashion and it's as if each eye belongs to a different person. Ever look into the eyes of a Saint, Holy Man, a real Iman, or someone with a lot of Light. You will see the same brightness in the eyes, but a calmness radiates out and both eyes look out upon the world together as one. This is balance. Learn to know the difference, but better strive to touch upon and bring to the surface your own inherent strength and balance.
Now, dear readers, I hope that you have enjoyed my story. I do not ask anyone to believe or disbelieve what I have said. Many have had similar insights that have played out in different ways that match one's own belief system. This was a personal experience or lesson specifically tailored by my Self to teach my self a lesson. Although only for me, I believe that by sharing these experiences with others it can open a space in which those who are willing can and will come into their own insights in a moment of openness and clarity.
