Many have died
Many more will die
We will remember
The ones who we loved
And
The ones who loved us
Our strength
Our resilience
Our fortitude
Will see us through these dark days
Those who we deceived
And betrayed
Will be inspired to end this madness
And
Find their own strength
Their own resilience
Their own fortitude
Inherited from countless generations
Who came before
And
Join with us
In a calm confidence
That will shake
And
Rattle the powers that should not be
And
Reason and love and faith
Will be restored in our communities
And
One day our descendants
We smile upon our memory
With
Thanksgiving and gratitude
For our sacrifices
For our strength
For our resilience
For our fortitude
For our faith restored in one another
And
For turning the tide
By
Revealing the great deceptions
That were intended to create a permanent
Prison for Mankind
And
Establishing
A world in which
We can live together
In respect
And
In Freedom

Note: I wrote this poem in the free verse style of poetry a few days ago in an inspired moment while thinking about all the people nearby who have been leaving our world suddenly. I published it for the first time today on my blog, the 7th of December, 2022.
