Mount Etna, Europe's most active volcano, erupted on Saturday. The eruption shot up a towering column of ash and fire to light up the night sky over much of eastern Sicily. Several inhabited villages dot the mountain's slopes. The latest lava flow didn't endanger any houses, and no evacuation was ordered. Etna erupts occasionally, its last major eruption occurred in 1992.
