A Wise Cherokee Legend

A Cherokee Blessing

An old Cherokee is teaching his grandson about life, "A fight is going on inside me," he said to the boy.

"It is a terrible fight and it is between two wolves.  One is evil - he is anger, envy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego."

He continued, "The other is good - he is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion, and faith.  The same fight is going on inside you - and inside every other person, too."

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather, "Which wolf will win?"

The old Cherokee simply replied, "The one you feed."

I would feed it tea and oranges that come all the way from China and seat to see it grow, in a nice little mountain called La Cimbarra, with my nice little mother-dog and her nice little puppy. I will walk, smile and see them grow and grow.

Hello Indigo:

Yes, it would grow up happy and healthy. Why not Spanish oranges?

Take care,
Mike

I've seen this one several times, Mike, but it is good to be reminded that we create our lives by what we feel and think. Thanks for sharing it.

Namaste brother Mike, fantastic post. This story is almost exactly the same as a parable I wrote of the man who spends his life building two houses.

In Lak' ech, love and light...
