Where Are The Leaders? - A Poem by M.N. Hopkins

Where are the leaders?

Destroyed by slanderous ones

Ruled by lesser men

Note:    The inspiration for this poem came to me early in the morning after waking up.  I suppose the motivation for this poem and the one to follow came from thinking about the incompetence and corruption we are now experiencing in government, business, boards, bureaucracy, academia, organizations, clubs, almost anywhere decisions are being made by a few for many.   It is almost as if the weakest, dumbest and most dishonest are chosen as front men or rubber stamps to push the agendas of a few in a position to make a profit from the actions of lesser men.  Anyone of strength, character or intelligence is slandered and made to look as a fool by their peers.  In this way control is maintained.  The leaders have been silenced but as leaders they are waiting as in hiding for the day when their abilities, skills and character will be needed.   This day will eventually come due to the actions and inaction of the inept now acting as the ones in authority.

I wrote this poem in the haiku style of poetry and published it for the first time on my blog today, the 2nd of October, 2019.
