My Favorite Apple Pie Recipe

Fruit Ingredients List:

800 grams apples  ( 6 large apples or 9 small apples)

one conference pear

Topping Ingredients List:

75 grams butter .  (1/2 cup)

3 tablespoons sugar

One tsp. cinnamon powder

Little nutmeg powder

Little cardamon powder

Light syrup.   (Syrup from cane or wheat source.  No corn syrup)

Little heavy cream or whole milk

2 dl flour    ( 1 third of a cup )

Oatmeal        ( Enough to give it oatmeal cookie consistency )

One tbsp  dried coconut flakes

Preparation:

1.   Dice up the apples and pear and place into a 9 inch buttered pie dish.  Pack the apples down so that they are firm and as level as possible. Sprinkle with some cinnamon, nutmeg and cardamon powder.

2.   Melt the butter in a small pot on the lowest heat setting.

3.   When butter is melted mix all topping ingredients in the pot.

4.  I add spices first, then sugar and syrup, then cream or milk, then the coconut flakes, then the flour and lastly the oats.  I stir it all together with a wooden or plastic spoon and only add more oats if necessary to get the right consistency of an oatmeal cookie.

5.   I spread the topping out evenly on top of the chopped apples until all apples are covered.

6.   Heat oven to 200 C  or  395 F

7 .  Place pie dish in the middle of the oven for 20 to 25 minutes.

8.   When finished, let cool, dish out individual portions and top with vanilla ice cream if you so wish.

Note:   The first time I made this pie, I followed a recipe.  I have lost the recipe many years back and have also changed it from its' original several times.  I do not measure out ingredients.  I just know from experience how to proceed.  The experienced bakers reading this recipe will figure out how to proceed.
