Intellect - it often works against moral values
"Instead of presenting, explaining and exalting moral values, the intellect has separated itself from them and even works against them. In reality, the moral realm* represents the roots of the intellect, which are there to nourish it, fortify it and make it grow. When the intellect is separated from its roots, it crumbles because it cannot feed itself. That is why the intellect is failing in its mission: because it has become detached from the moral realm, from the heart, which represents the roots of life, whereas the intellect represents the branches, leaves, flowers and fruits. This is a magnificent blossoming, of course, it is a splendour, but without its roots, the intellect becomes like a withered branch."
