On Sound Healing and the Phonosphere of the Earth - Radio Interview
Simone Vitale, hosted by Tim Lynch at Greenplanet FM in Auckland, NZ, shares his thoughts about the role of sound in the natural environment.
All the sounds of nature coalesce and vibrate, in one vast symphony as in, for example, the dawn chorus of birds.
The human contribution to this living, nourishing element we call sound very often shows a lack of awareness, similarly to other aspects of the environment.
A mindful use of sound can be of great help in these turbulent times.
In understanding sound ecology and the ‘phonosphere’ - that above the lithosphere (the rigid outer part of the earth, consisting of the crust and upper mantle) and ‘within' the teaming biosphere - resides the all of nature’s creatures emanating their calls and instinctive sounds.
But more so, the whistle of the wind, the rustle of leaves, the murmur of a brook and the crashing of waves on a beach - everywhere natures dance emanates a soundscape that delights and touches our senses.
Then we have the industrial man - and we all know these sounds.
