Seventeen states have now introduced bills for state-owned banks, and others are in the works. Hawaii’s innovative state bank bill addresses the foreclosure mess. County-owned banks are being proposed that would tackle the housing crisis by exercising the right of eminent domain on abandoned and foreclosed properties. Arizona has a bill that would do this for homeowners who are current in their payments but underwater, allowing them to refinance at fair market value.

The long-awaited settlement between 49 state Attorneys General and the big five robo-signing banks is proving to be a major disappointment before it has even been signed, sealed and court approved. Critics maintain that the bankers responsible for the housing crisis and the jobs crisis will again be buying their way out of jail, and the curtain will again drop on the scene of the crime.

We may not be able to beat the banks, but we don’t have to play their game. We can take our marbles and go home. The Move Your Money campaign has already prompted more than 600,000 consumers to move their funds out of Wall Street banks into local banks, and there are much larger pools that could be pulled out in the form of state revenues. States generally deposit their revenues and invest their capital with large Wall Street banks, which use those hefty sums to speculate, invest abroad, and buy up the local banks that service our communities and local economies. The states receive a modest interest, and Wall Street lends the money back at much higher interest.

Rhode Island is a case in point. In an article titled “Where Are R.I. Revenues Being Invested? Not Locally,” Kyle Hence wrote in ecoRI News on January 26^th:

According to a December Treasury report, only 10 percent of Rhode Island’s short-term investments reside in truly local in-state banks, namely Washington Trust and BankRI. Meanwhile, 40 percent of these investments were placed with foreign-owned banks, including a British-government owned bank under investigation by the European Union.

Further, millions have been invested by Rhode Island in a fund created by a global buyout firm . . . . From 2008 to mid-2010, the fund lost 10 percent of its value — more than $2 million. . . . Three of four of Rhode Island’s representatives in Washington, D.C., count [this fund] amongst their top 25 political campaign donors . . . .

Hence asks:

"Are Rhode Islanders and the state economy being served well here? Is it not time for the state to more fully invest directly in Rhode Island, either through local banks more deeply rooted in the community or through the creation of a new state-owned bank?"

Hence observes that state-owned banks are “[o]ne emerging solution being widely considered nationwide . . . . Since the onset of the economic collapse about five years ago, 16 states have studied or explored creating state-owned banks, according to a recent Associated Press report.”

2012 Additions to the Public Bank Movement

Make that 17 states, including three joining the list of states introducing state bank bills in 2012: Idaho (a bill for a feasibility study), New Hampshire (a bill for a bank), and Vermont (introducing THREE bills—one for a state bank study, one for a state currency, and one for a state voucher/warrant system). With North Dakota, which has had its own bank for nearly a century, that makes 18 states that have introduced bills in one form or another—36% of U.S. states. For states and text of bills, see here.

Other recent state bank developments were in Virginia, Hawaii, Washington State, and California, all of which have upgraded from bills to study the feasibility of a state-owned bank to bills to actually establish a bank. The most recent, California’s new bill, was introduced on Friday, February 24^th.

All of these bills point to the Bank of North Dakota as their model. Kyle Hence notes that North Dakota has maintained a thriving economy throughout the current recession:

One of the reasons, some say, is the Bank of North Dakota, which was formed in 1919 and is the only state-owned or public bank in the

United States

. All state revenues flow into the Bank of North Dakota and back out into the state in the form of loans.

Since 2008, while servicing student, agricultural and energy— including wind — sector loans within North Dakota, every dollar of profit by the bank, which has added up to tens of millions, flows back into state coffers and directly supports the needs of the state in ways private banks do not.

The Future of Food has been a key tool in the American and international anti-GMO grassroots activist movements and played widely in the environmental and activist circuits since its release in 2004. The film is widely acknowledged for its role in educating voters and the subsequent success of passing Measure H in Mendocino County, California, one of the first local initiatives in the country to ban the planting of GMO crops. Indicative of its popularity, the Future of Food showed to a sold out audience of 1,500 at the Castro Theatre in San Francisco in 2004, a benefit for Slow Food, where it was introduced by Alice Waters.

In September 2005, The Future of Food made a highly acclaimed national theatrical premiere at Film Forum in New York, followed by a tour of more than a dozen major American cities in the fall. An Easy To Make Lime Cheesecake Recipe

Easy Lime Cheesecake

Ingredients:

10 digestives
75 grams butter
3 eggs
1 1/2 dl sugar
I lime
500 grams Philadelphia Cream Cheese
2 dl creme fresh

Bake form:

23 cm round bake form.

Makes 6 to 8 pieces

1st: Mix the digestives and butter together and form a crust at the bootom of the bake dish and bake for 15 minutes at 200 C ( 392 F)

2nd: Mix the eggs and sugar together.

3rd: Add the zest of one lime along with the juice. Include the pulp pieces also.

4th: Add the creme fresh and Cream cheese.

5th: Pour the mixture over the botton layer of crust.

6th: Bake for 45 minutes at 200 C (392 F) on a lower shelf in the oven.

7th: Cool and enjoy eating.

Note: I baked it for the first time last night and it was easy to make and quite tasty.

I used 11 digestives cookies in a ceramic round bake form. In N.A. you can substitute graham crackers for digestives and sour cream for creme fresh. I thought that 200 C was a bit high to bake at. I think that 175 C (350 F) might be a bit better. Perhaps let it sit in the oven in the heat after the oven is off for another 30 minutes if it isn't firm enough.

$15 TRILLION is equivalent to the the federal debt of the U.S. Treasury Department. Lord James of Blackheath has spoken in the House of Lords holding evidence of three transactions of 5 Trillion each and a transaction of 750,000 metric tonnes of gold and has called for an investigation.

I think there are three possible conclusions that may come from it. I think there may have been a massive piece of money laundering committed by a major government which ought to know better and that it has effectively undermined the integrity of the British bank the Royal Bank of Scotland, in doing so. The second alternative is that a major American department has an agency that has gone rogue on it because it has been wound up and has created a structure out of which they are seeking to get at least 50 billion Euros as a payoff. And the third possibility is that this is an extraordinarily elaborate fraud which has not been carried out but which has been prepared in order to provide a threat to one government or more if they don't pay them off. So there are three possibilities and this all needs a very urgent review.

My Lords, it starts in April and May of 2009, with the alleged transfer to the United Kingdom, to HSBC of a sum of 5 trillion dollars and seven days later, in comes another 5 trillion dollars to HSBC, and then 3 weeks later another 5 trillion. 5 trillion in each case. Sorry. A total of 15 trillion dollars is alleged to have been passed into the hands of HSBC for onward transit to the Royal Bank of Scotland and we need to look at where this came from and what the history of this money is. And I have been trying to sort out the sequence by which this money has been created and from where it has come from for a long time.

Perhaps The Brits should call him in.

Infiltration of Occupy Wall Street : PART I - Infiltration to Disrupt, Divide and Mis-direct are Widespread in Occupy

PART I

This is Part I of a two part series on infiltration of Occupy and what the movement can do about limiting the damage of those who seek to destroy us from within. This first article describes public reports of infiltration as well as results of a survey and discussions with occupiers about this important issue. The second article will examine the history of political infiltration and steps we can take to address it.

In the first five months, the Occupy Movement has had major victories and has altered the debate about the economy. People in the power structure and who hold different political views are pushing back with a traditional tool – infiltration. Across the country, Occupies are struggling with disruption and division, attacks on key persons, escalation of tactics to property damage and police conflict as well as misuse of websites and social media.

As Part II of this discussion will show, infiltration is the norm in political movements in the United States. Occupy has many opponents likely to infiltrate to divide and destroy it beyond the usual law enforcement apparatus. Others include the corporations whose rule Occupy seeks to end, conservative right wing groups allied with corporate interests and other members of the power structure including non-profit organizations allied with either corporate-funded political party, especially the Democratic Party which would like Occupy to be their Tea Party rather than an independent movement critical of both parties.

On the very first day of the Occupation of Wall Street, we saw infiltration by the police. We were leaving Zucotti Park and were stopped in traffic by the rear of the park. We saw an unmarked van open, in the front seat were two uniformed police and out of the back came two men dressed as occupiers wearing backpacks, sweatshirts, and jeans. They walked into Zucotti Park and became part of the crowd.

In the first week of the Occupation of Freedom Plaza in Washington, DC we saw the impact of two right wing infiltrators. A peaceful protest was planned at the drone exhibit at the Smithsonian Institution. The plan was for a banner drop and a die-in under the drones. But, as protesters arrived at the museum two people ran out in front, threatening the security guards and causing them to pepper spray protesters and tourists. Patrick Howley, an assistant editor for the American Spectator, wrote a column bragging about his role as an agent provocateur. A few days later we uncovered the second infiltrator, Michael Stack, when he was urging people on Freedom Plaza to resist police with force. We later learned he was from the Leadership Institute which trains youth in right wing ideology and tactics. We were told he had also been at Occupy Wall Street provoking violence.

There have been a handful of other reports around the country of infiltration. In Oakland, CopWatch filmed an Oakland police officer infiltrating. And, in another video CopWatch includes audio tape of an Oakland police chief, Howard Jordan, talking about how police departments all over the country infiltrate, not just to monitor protesters but to manipulate and direct them.

There were also reports in Los Angeles of a dozen undercover police in the encampment before they were forcibly evicted by the police. The raid by the LA police was brutal and resulted in mass arrests, with most charges dropped, but with others mistreated in jails. Similar pre-raid undercover activities were reported in Nashville,Tennessee.

Los Angeles also had infiltrators from the right wing group, Free Republic. They posted on their webpage a call for infiltrators to block a vote concerning an offer from the City of Los Angeles for virtually free space for Occupy LA: “Need LA Freepers to show up to block this vote by the Occupy LA General Assembly. How brave are you?” In the end, the LA occupy decided not to accept the offer from the city, something also opposed by other elements in the encampment.

In New York, there were reports of infiltration. For example, a protester described how undercover police infiltrated a protest at Citibank and were the loudest and most disruptive protesters. Later at the station listening to the police the protester said in an interview: “It was a bit startling how inside their information was – how they were being paid to go to these protests and put us in situations where we’d be arrested and not be able to leave.”

Survey and Interviews of Occupiers Shows Common Tactics, Common Infiltrators

These scattered reports seem to be the tip of the iceberg. As a result of experiencing extreme divisive tactics and character assassination on Freedom Plaza against us we began to hear from occupiers across the country about similar incidents in their occupations. We decided to speak to and survey people about infiltration and have found similar stories around the country.

Teachers: How Are You Teaching US War Crimes, Destruction of US Constitution?

“Law” based on the dictates of a leader is exactly what Nazi Germany had.

We teach limited government under a constitution that secures unalienable rights of life, liberty and pursuit of happiness. This first right means that one’s life cannot be taken by tyrannical government.

The two-minute video here is Defense Secretary Panetta claiming US law allows assassinating Americans if government merely says an American is guilty of a crime. Acts upon what the leader says at any given time rather than limited power under law is the etymology of dictatorship. “Law” based on the dictates of a leader is exactly what Nazi Germany had; their word for leader was fuhrer.

The 5th and 6th Amendments of the US Constitution promise that if the government is to seize you, let alone assassinate you, they have to follow due process to secure persons’ unalienable rights:

“No person shall be held to answer for a capital, or otherwise infamous crime, unless on a presentment or indictment of a grand jury (that means a jury of one’s peers, not the dictatorship of “the leader”)… nor shall any person… be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law;…

“In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury…, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the assistance of counsel for his defense.”

Department of Defense Chief Counsel Jeh Johnson spoke to Yale’s law school and repeated the claim of government authority to dictate any American as a “terrorist” or “terrorist supporter” and be assassinated. This is in Orwellian contradiction to 5th Amendment rights that government cannot deprive you of your life without the above explicit due process. Importantly, Mr. Johnson, the War Department’s top “legal” voice, had more to say: government-dictated assassinations cannot be legally challenged through US courts.

President Obama instructed Justice Department lawyers to defend unlimited warrantless searches in Orwellian violation of the 4th Amendment. Such searches could be claimed as evidence of “supporting terrorism” and then not subject to review after assassination.

The 2006 Military Commissions Act and 2012 NDAA “legislated” dictatorial authority to declare any person a “terrorist supporter,” seize such persons, and hold them indefinitely and without rights.

President Bush and VP Cheney previously claimed that controlled drowning (waterboarding) is an acceptable method to interrogate and receive confessions, despite US courts’ unanimous rulings that this is torture and that the US hanged WW2 Japanese authorities for its use.

These policies to crush dissent protect US obvious violation of war law to engage in current Wars of Aggression. The publicly-stated “reasons” for these wars are tragic-comic lies easily proved as such with a few moments’ attention.

This is US “law” in our world of the present, and in “emperor has no clothes” obvious violation to the Bill of Rights for all persons (not just citizens).

If we just used “nation x” and “government official y said” for the above facts, and students identified them as examples of the US form of government, we would be horrified at their fundamental confusion, yes? We have other names for such forms of government.

Americans who receive their “news” from the six mega-corporations that dominate ~90% of “reporting” will never view clearly-stated facts of the above topics. The CIA disclosed to the Senate Church Committee that they had 400 persons working with the largest US media market to spin stories favorable to administration policies. The facts argue this is still active practice.

Colleagues in education: how are you teaching US War Crimes and destruction of the US Constitution?

Or, do you ignore these changes as you suffer from cognitive dissonance, American Exceptionalism, or the “Big Lie” (and here)? Is it that you haven’t heard about them clearly through the “news” you receive? Or can you ethically stand that government claims for Bill of Rights removals is indeed constitutional?

If you can refute any of the above facts I present as objective, I’d really like to hear the argument. I worked with 200-300 policy briefs for 18 years, and am deeply practiced for factual documentation meant to withstand academic and political challenge; I assert that what both parties’ leadership and corporate media publicly state is paper-thin propaganda on the above topics. Don’t believe me, read this to see for yourself how the New York Times “reported” about the largest meeting of heads of state (presidents, prime ministers, royalty) in world history to save a million children’s lives every month. When you’ve read how this story was obfuscated and buried after the sections on style, travel, and corrections, ask and answer to yourself how that can be explained in any other rational way other than supporting a political agenda consistent with this article’s facts for American neocolonialism (domestic and foreign control by an oligarchy/1% for their own benefit).

Actually, such policies and “news” manipulation have been US business as usual for some time (andhere).

I can provide documentation among literally hundreds of professional and “hobby” journalists, but you’ll have to look and think for yourself.

I was visiting Glastonbury in England in 2003 which is well known for psychic/spiritual events in the past as you likely know - King Arthur and all that and also that the cup of the Last Supper is reportedly buried there in what is called Chalice Hill. That's another storey.

It was just before the US was going into Iraq and a group of about 20 of us had agreed to meet at noon in a village square - not the main one as that would have been a bit too public - to send out our thoughts for peace. Just as we were beginning to hold hands in a circle a young chap ran up and looking at me asked if he could join and of course we said yes. He came between me and another and we proceeded with our silence. When it was over a few of my closer friend were arranging to meet that evening to go out to a local pub a few miles out of Glastonbury. We arranged to meet in the village square at 5:30 and go out in two cars to the pub. This young guy asked if he could join us looking at me and of course we said yes. We met at 5:30 and went out to the pub for supper and to share our thoughts.

While we were there exchanging our thoughts I noticed that this chap sat quietly listening but not saying much. He seemed quite absorbed with our conversations. I liked him. Anyway, eventually it was time to go back to Glastonbury and get our cars. On the way back one of the chaps asked me quietly not to tell this fellow where he lived as he felt he might show up asking for a place to stay and maybe some food. I was surprised as I didn't feel that way about him at all - but I agreed.

When we were saying our final good nights in the Village square this young chap came quietly over to me and as he approached I saw a powerful white light go from his heart centre straight into mine and I felt Love as I had never felt it before. Then he quietly left. No one else witnessed this experinece as I was standing a bit away from the rest, and no one has ever seen him since.. I have never forgotten.

A US lawmaker is reportedly planning to introduce the "Sound Dollar Act" early next month. This is legislation that would move the federal reserve from its dual mandate of maintaining price stability (which is anathema to the dollar debasement that it creates through its massive money printing operations) and keeping unemployment low (which it has failed to do...curious...) to just promoting price stability. Hmmm...what would that mean for the Fed's unofficial mandate of trashing the dollar?

And Turkey, the fastest growing economy after China, is being penalized in the credit markets for failing to promote consumer savings, according to bloomberg. What? You mean savings matter!! That's amazing...ummm not to us it isn't. You can't have economic growth without savings, because you can't have investment without capital. Capital comes form savings, and growth comes from investment, but its shocking how many people think money "grows on tress." Can you blame them, when we have a serial money printer at the Federal Reserve, pushing us all into serfdom and neo-feudalism with a policy of perpetual bailouts and zero percent interest rates? Oligarchy here we come!

Finally, with central bank policies of the fed and ECB amounting to --trash for cash -- as economist David McWilliams puts it with his "Punk Economics: Lesson 2," turning "water into wine." These perpetual bailouts are nothing other than an institutional form of wealth transfer. They are nothing but wealth extraction, moving money from the bottom of society, to the top. Occupy Portland calls for a national day of non-violent direct action to reclaim our voices and challenge our society’s obsession with profit and greed by shutting down the corporations. They used it to create the anti-labor legislation in Wisconsin and the racist bill SB 1070 in Arizona among so many others. They use ALEC to spread these corporate laws around the country.

In doing this we begin to recreate our democracy. In doing this we begin to create a society that is organized to meet human needs and sustain life.

On February 29th, we will reclaim our future from the 1%. We will shut down the corporations and recreate our democracy.

"Fear is a Handicap"

There are many voices out there as you too are aware. It remains I feel, for each of us to use our intuition as to what we are drawn to explore and indeed listen to. Personally, I have for years felt that we have been seeded from other star systems and that our different races represent the particular star system we may have come from. I do however, feel there is a different story for the indigenous peoples of the earth but not sure exactly how for they are very much more in tune with this planet than are us ‘others’.

Getting out of the “Box” of our conditioning is the first big step. Once we have done that it remains for us to look around at this new unfolding landscape [ as we rub our eyes and get used to this new light] and see/feel what we are drawn to explore and pursue it. As you well know we have been ‘ruled’ by fear and it is this that has controlled us over millennia by forces that have not operated in our best collective interests. [ Religions have done it very effectively through ‘judgemental’ motifs et al]. Who have been the ‘controllers’ behind the scenes is a matter of speculation.

There are ‘takes’ on this and I’m sure you’ve heard them. Again, intuition here is the best guide – at least for me. It is, however, very important not to get caught up in any fear motif for this only muddies the waters. Awareness is one thing and throwing light on a negative situation is very valid to help inform – but never get caught up in acting out of fear itself. Indeed this whole epoch we are traversing thru is an incredible time of discovery about who we really are. While we may see desolation and tragedy taking place everywhere around us, it is perhaps a prelude to a new unfolding discovery about our very existence and what it is all about! You cannot build a new structure on a crumbling foundation - so the ‘old’ must be exposed and removed to allow for the new growth. I feel that is what is taking place as we move thru these disturbing times and most importantly – for me at least – is that we have the support of our Star family at this exceptional time with the codicil of course of non-interference unless we collectively ask them too. I suggest that these amazing Crop Circles are coming from these concerned beings who surround us and they come in Love.

Wall Street and major European banks usurped unprecedented money making power. With complicit politicians, they make it the old fashioned way. They steal it.

As a result, ordinary people are harmed. They've lost jobs, homes, savings, and futures to let privileged elites get richer and more powerful at their expense.

At issue is banking giants controlling money, credit and debt for private enrichment. Used lawlessly, they bribe politicians to pass business friendly laws and turn a blind eye to massive fraud, abuse, and grand theft.

Greece is the epicenter of Europe's crisis. It's being strip-mined of all material wealth. It's life force is being drained to pay bankers. Its citizens face destitution and neoserfdom with no rights. Democracy's just a figure of speech. In its birthplace, it no longer exists.

On February 11th, tens of thousands of citizens took to the cold streets in over 200 cities across Europe in opposition to ACTA, expressing their support for internet freedom and digital rights. In what has so far been the largest protest against copyright legislation ever, it is clear that the concerns raised by civil society organisations, campaigners, and citizens are based on facts and can no longer be ignored. It has become clear to the European Commission and the Parliament that citizens will not stand idly by while important decisions about the future of our internet, our freedoms, and our rights are made without our approval.

We’re encouraged by the way in which the winds of change seem to be blowing in the direction of human rights, innovation, transparency and flexible IP regimes. So far Poland, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic have backed away from supporting ACTA by suspending ratification, and Germany and the Netherlands have put a delay on even signing the agreement! Yesterday, the Dutch Parliament adopted a motion asking its government not to sign the Agreement until “it is conclusively established that the Treaty does not conflict with fundamental rights.”

In the European Parliament, more concerns for ACTA are being heard: On Monday, the Greens staged an anti-ACTA demo in Strasbourg, and President of the European Parliament, Martin Schulz (S&D), among many other Members of the EP, has publicly expressed his concerns with ACTA, saying, "The necessary balance between the two - protection of copyright on the one hand and fundamental rights of [Internet] users on the other – is very poorly enshrined in this treaty." And sagely pointing out that, "It was a mistake to put counterfeit goods and copyright enforcement in the digital environment together in the same agreement."

The European Commissioner for Justice, Fundamental Rights and Citizenship, Viviane Reding, has also released a statement that takes into account many of the concerns of civil society, supporting “the intention of several members of the European Parliament to ask the European Court of Justice for a legal opinion to clarify that the ACTA agreement cannot limit freedom of expression and freedom of the Internet”.

The European Commission may be rethinking its stance on ACTA
The European Commission (EC), which tends to stand firmly together on all matters (including ACTA) may now be second guessing its stance on the controversial Agreement. European Commissioner for Trade, Karel De Gucht, has been leading the Commission in negotiations, and according to a recent meeting of the heads of cabinet, was moved by the protests that swept Europe on February 11. De Gucht’s representatives announced at that meeting, that a referral to the European Court of Justice (ECJ) is currently being considered.

What could a referral to the ECJ mean for the fight against ACTA?
While civil society groups, and many political parties in the EP, such as the Greens/EFA, ostensibly supported a referral to the high court, particularly to test it against its impact on fundamental rights, this was, from Access’ perspective, seen best as a second option to the final vote in the European Parliament (scheduled for sometime in June or July of this year). On referring ACTA to the ECJ, there are a few things to consider. Firstly, due to the Commission’s handling of this dossier so far, this move could be seen as a delay tactic intended to quell the anti-ACTA movement, since ECJ opinions can take up to two years. If indeed it is, the EC should know that this will only ignite greater public outcry against the Agreement.

Secondly, the questions asked to the ECJ must be well-framed. Since the opinion of the Court is key in European decision making (particularly in influencing the upcoming vote in the European Parliament), supporting a referral to the ECJ should be provided only on the condition that questions are framed comprehensively, as a vaguely and ill worded question could result in an equally vague ruling. The question(s) will likely relate to whether ACTA is incompatible with primary (the treaties establishing the European Union) and secondary (legal instruments based on the Treaties) European law.

Currently the EU has a number of pieces of legislation that are being overhauled and updated, most notably the review of the Intellectual Property Enforcement Directive (IPRED) and the upcoming IPREDII. Many key elements of the directive which relate to fundamental rights, such as access to user data, are also included in ACTA. By ratifying ACTA, the Commission and the Parliament will not be able to undertake any major reforms of this important Directive. It would also be encouraging non-European countries to implement these measures, which would have exponentially worse implications on fundamental rights.

Indeed, if the Commission decides to properly address the risks to fundamental rights that ACTA presents, they could and should conduct an impact assessment on the potential of impacts of the Agreement, while they wait for the ECJ to render an opinion. By taking ACTA off the fast track, it would also allow other “partner” countries to evaluate the harmful implications of this agreement. Whether the referral comes from the Commission or from the European Parliament, this analysis is more or less the same.

How will the ECJ rule on ACTA?
It is difficult to say. However, in related news, the ECJ has today ruled again in favour of fundamental rights and an open internet. Similar to the Scarlet/SABAM case, SABAM -- a large Belgian rightsholder association (like the MPAA) -- brought the social network Netlog to court over their failure to comply with an injunction requiring the installation of filtering systems aimed at the prevention of infringements committed by Belgian members on its website (approximately 2 million consumers).

The European Court of Justice ruled that a social network, “cannot be obliged to install a general filtering system, covering all its users, in order to prevent the unlawful use of musical and audio-visual work”. More details (including an FAQ) from EDRi here.

This makes two recent cases where the ECJ has stood firmly on the side of fundamental rights, and could be a good indicator of what the court might say about ACTA if it is in fact referred. However, it is hard to know what the outcome will be. This is why it’s important for European citizens to stand strong and united against ACTA!

Backed by legal precedent and armed with seemingly inexhaustible lobbying funds, a handful of multinationals are attempting to use patents on life itself to monopolize the biosphere.

The oft-neglected legal minefield of intellectual property rights has seen a surge in public interest in recent months due to the storm of protest over proposed legislation and treaties related to online censorship.[1]

One of the effects of such legislation as SOPA and PIPA and such international treaties as ACTA is to have drawn attention to the grave implications that intellectual property arguments can have on the everyday lives of the average citizen.

As important as the protection of online freedoms is, however, an even more fundamental part of our lives has come under the purview of the multinational corporations that are seeking to patent the world around us for their own gain. Unknown to a large section of the public, a single US Supreme Court ruling in 1980 made it possible for the first time to patent life itself for the profit of the patent holder.

The decision, known as Diamond v. Chakrabarty, centered on a genetic engineer working for General Electric who created a bacterium that could break down crude oil, which could be used in the clean-up of oil spills.[2] In its decision, Supreme Court Chief Justice Warren Burger ruled that:

“A live, human-made micro-organism is patentable subject matter under 35 U.S.C. § 101”

With this ruling, the ability to patent living organisms, so long as they had been genetically altered in some novel way, was established in legal precedent.

The implications of such a monumental ruling are understandably wide-reaching, touching on all sorts of issues that have the potential to change the world around us. But it did not take long at all for this decision’s effects to make itself felt in one of the most basic parts of the biosphere: our food supply.

In the years following the Diamond v. Chakrabarty decision, an entire industry rose up around the idea that these new patent protections could foster the economic incentive for major corporations to develop a new class of genetically engineered foods to help increase crop yields and reduce world hunger.

The first commercially available genetically modified food, Calgene’s “Flavr Savr” tomato, was approved for human consumption by the Food and Drug Administration in the US in 1992 and was on the market in 1994.[3] Since then, adoption of GM foods has proceeded swiftly, especially in the US where the vast majority of soybeans, corn and cotton have been genetically altered.

By 1997, the problems inherent in the patenting of these GM crops had already begun to surface in Saskatchewan, Canada. It was in the sleepy town of Bruno that a canola farmer, Percy Schmeiser, found that a variety of GM canola known as “Roundup Ready” had infected his fields, mixing with his non-GM crop.[4] Amazingly, Monsanto, the agrichemical company that owned the Roundup Ready patent, sued Schmeiser for infringing their patent. After a years-long legal battle against the multinational that threatened to bankrupt his small farming operation, Schmeiser finally won an out-of-court settlement with Monsanto that saw the company agree to pay for the clean-up costs associated with the contamination of his field.

In India, tens of thousands of farmers per year commited suicide[5] in an epidemic labeled the GM genocide.[6] Sold a story of “magic seeds” that would produce immense yields, farmers around the country were driven into ruinous debt by a combination of high-priced seeds, high-priced pesticides, and crop failure. Worst of all, the GM seeds had been engineered with so-called “terminator technology,” meaning that seeds from one harvest could not be re-planted the following year. Instead, farmers were forced to buy seeds at the same exorbitant prices from the biotech giants every year, insuring a debt spiral that was impossible to escape. As a result, hundreds of thousands of farmers have committed suicide in the Indian countryside since the introduction of GM crops in 1997.

As philosopher, quantum physicist and activist Vandana Shiva has detailed at great length, the effect of the invocation of intellectual property in enabling the monopolization of the world’s most fundamental resources was not accidental or contingent.[7] On the contrary, this is something that has been self-consciously designed by the heads of the very corporations who now seek to reap the benefit of this monopolization, and the monumental nature of their achievement has been obscured behind bureaucratic institutions like the WTO and innocuous sounding agreements like the Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights.

Although the deck appears to be stacked in favour of the giant multinationals and their practically inexhaustible access to lobbying and legal funds, the people are by no means incapable of fighting back against this patenting of the biosphere.

In India itself, where so much devestation has been wrought by the introduction of genetically engineered crops, the people are fighting back against the world’s most well-known purveyor of GMO foods, Monsanto. The country’s National Biodiversity Diversity Authority has enabled the government to proceed with legal action against the company for so-called biopiracy, or attempting to develop a GM crop derived from local varieties of eggplant, without the appropriate licences.[8]

Although resistance to the patenting of the world’s food supply should be applauded in all its forms, what is needed is a fundamental transformation in our understanding of life itself from a patentable organism to the common property of all of the peoples who have developed the seeds from which these novel GM crops are derived.

This concept, known as open seeds, is being promoted by organizations around the globe, including Dr. Vandana Shiva’s Navdanya organization.[9]

To be sure, it will be a long and arduous uphill battle to bring this issue to the attention of a public that seems to be but dimly aware of what genetically modified foods are, let alone the legal ramifications of the ability to patent life, but as the work of such organizations as Navdanya continues to educate people about the issues involved, the numbers of those opposed to the patenting of the biosphere likewise increases.

From seed-saving and preservation projects to an increased awareness of and interest in organic foods, people around the globe are beginning to take the issue of the food supply as seriously as the companies that are quite literally attempting to ram their products down the consumers’ throats.

As always, the power lies with the consumers, who can win the battle simply by asserting their right to choose where and how they purchase the food, a lesson that was demonstrated once again earlier this month in Germany.[10]

Financial crises occur as they have always occurred when a few manipulate and control markets for their own benefit without any concern for others or the consequences of their actions.

Fueled by greed, these events have occurred over and over throughout human history. Always have a few controlled markets for their own benefit under the guise of being in charge of a system that will benefit all. The majority only experience poverty and enslavement to a system that in reality destroys any chances that they have to prosper in freedom.

For freedom is the aim and freedom is the goal of all who seek a better way for not just themselves but for others of their kind. We often hear phrases that portray an illusion or better said, lies that make no sense at all when viewed in a logical manner. We are told over and over how much better we have it than those who have come before us.

Statistics are falsified and lies marketed by your halls of science and commerce. Very few question these lies for the fear of reprisals.

We see a time when Mankind will no longer be deceived by those who in their carelessness offer mis-information and mis-direction. We see a time of honest leadership. We see the arising of true leadership that sees to the needs of the many and behaves in a just and civil manner.

For the road ahead will be clear of many obstacles and distractions when Man has been forced to concentrate on what is real and form their reality out of the materials at hand that occur naturally within your world.

The age of the machine will soon come to an end and a new age of reason will follow. Man will learn again to use their own minds as a tool to shape their physical reality. Problems will begin to be solved rather than avoided as is the fashion today amongst your leadership. Honesty will take the helm and lead again the children who now only are taught lies and madness.

Sanity returns and the uninstructive and self-destructive behaviors of today will cease to exist. This will be a natural occurrence after Mankind is forced to build up again after the ashes have settled. The Earth will be cleansed of the poisons that persist today as well as the poisons of the mind and emotions that have Mankind in a death grip.

Easy To Bake Coconut Macaroons - Lätt Att Baka Kokostoppar

Ingredients:

50 grams of butter
2 eggs
1 1/2 dl. sugar
200 grams of dried shreded coconut

1st: Melt butter and let it cool or keep the butter out on the counter for one hour.

2nd: Whip the eggs and sugar together until they turn white in color.

3rd: Stir in the coconut and butter.

4th: Allow the batter swell for around 10 minutes.

5th: Form and place on bake paper on a flat oven cookie sheet.

6th: Bake at 175 C in the middle of the oven for approximately 12 minutes.

7th: Let cool and enjoy eating.

Note: 175 C is around 325 F

1 deciliter = 0.4228 cup (US) You do the math.

200 grams = 7 oz. (US)

50 grams = 1.75 oz. (US)

I end up with 14 to 16 large cookies per batch.

 Accusing the West of trying to destroy Islam

What Should I Do?

Be alert to suspicious activity. None of the listed actions, in and of themselves, constitutes a criminal violation. However, when coupled, the acts may indicate suspicious activity that warrants law enforcement scrutiny.

When the Powers-That-Be Can Label All Americans Terrorists, They Can Arbitrarily Harass Anyone They Dislike

For years, the government has been using anti-terror laws to crush dissent and to help the too big to fail businesses compete against smaller businesses (and see this).

This trend is getting worse by the day.

On January 31, 2012, the Department of Homeland Security’s Behavioral Science Division pointed to the following as indicators of potential terrorism (please note – as you review the list – that some indicators are conservative, some are liberal and some are bipartisan):

“Reverent of individual liberty”

“Anti-nuclear”

“Believe in conspiracy theories”

“A belief that one’s personal and/or national “way of life” is under attack”

“Impose strict religious tenets or laws on society (fundamentalists)”

“Insert religion into the political sphere”

“Those who seek to politicize religion”

“Supported political movements for autonomy”

“Anti-abortion”

“Anti-Catholic”

“Anti-global”

“Suspicious of centralized federal authority”

“Fiercely nationalistic (as opposed to universal and international in orientation)”

“A belief in the need to be prepared for an attack either by participating in … survivalism”

Given that most Americans fall into one or more of these categories, the powers-that-be can brand virtually anyone they dislike as being a terrorist.

Indeed, judges and prosecutors discuss conspiracies every day, and federal and all 50 state’s codes include specific statutes addressing conspiracy, and specifying punishment for people who commit conspiracies. (But surely judges, prosecutors and legislators are not terrorists.)

And Public Intelligence notes:

A flyer from a series created by the FBI and Department of Justice to promote suspicious activity reporting states that espousing conspiracy theories or anti-US rhetoric should be considered a potential indicator of terrorist activity. The document, part of a collection published yesterday by Public Intelligence, indicates that individuals who discuss “conspiracy theories about Westerners” or display “fury at the West for reasons ranging from personal problems to global policies of the U.S.” are to be considered as potentially engaging in terrorist activity. For an example of the kinds of conspiracy theories that are to be considered suspicious, the flyer specifically lists the belief that the “CIA arranged for 9/11 to legitimize the invasion of foreign lands.”

A number of PhD economists say that idiotic government policies and ruthless behavior by the big banks have led to Depression-level unemployment. Many patriotic Americans believe the same thing. Does that make them terrorists?

There are sicknesses, illness, that are diagnosed in order to wake someone up--to snap him out of being so stuck, so imprisoned in fear; to awaken him in a spiritual sense to a higher part of his life. The ego has many ways it can be coached or coaxed into growth, into sharing the limelight with it's divinity. ear of sickness and death is a very, very powerful force.

Linda: We use the term alternative healing or alternative medicine to nontraditional methods of healing the body. Do you have a comment on the value of these approaches?

Ariel: In truth, all the approaches you speak of are alternatives.   Each one is an alternative to the true focus and the true mechanism of healing. To understand this answer, it is important to know what is being healed. All of what you consider needing to be healed, all "dis-ease" or disharmony of the human body, mind, emotions or spirit are simply manifestations of human beings' limitation in connection to the unity of this universe in which they live.

All are manifestations of ways in which the idea of separateness that humans insist on having is allowed to run too freely and allowed to take such importance tha tit cuts off the person from his true source. It is the true source, the harmony and connection to the unity of the universe and the energy there in that is the source of all health and hence the source of all healing.

It must be understood that any healing that takes place happens within the individual. All healing, no matter in what form, is what you might label self-healing. All of these things that you describe are in truth, alternatives to self-healing--the true form of healing. Each one has it's perfect place. This is why each one has been created. Sometimes when the individual has been distant from his very source for a significant length of time, such disharmony or disease will manifest within the physical body or the emotional body to the point where intervention, outside help is needed.

In truth, all intervention is a support to self-healing. All intervention, whether it be from what you label traditional or what you label, alternative or even what you label spiritual forms of healing, are simply devices that allow the person to be bought back within the range where this self-healing can take place.

Even when a surgeon remove material from the body or reconnects tissue to itself, these are simply mechanicl acts, acts that are in and of themselves great marvels and in come cases, great mysteries even to the ones who are perfoming them. But, it is ultimately the person who heals,who takes that support and within whose body the soul manifests the knitting together of the tissues, the muscles that have been severed by a surgeon's scalpel. The more that a healing mechanism caan support the natural union with the nature of the soul's harmony and the connection to unity, the more it will support the person in his self-healing.

Each being, each person, has a natural affinity or openness to a certain method of healing. Each method of healing provides a technique that is supportive for certain people. As a result,in this marvelous mosiac of life, there is a healing approach. a support, a tool for every type of person. What will work for one may not work for the other.   But, in all cases the most important healing happens not at the surface level where symptoms are fixed, but at the deepest level where the source of the problem is corrected. And that can only happen deep within the individual.

You have seen too often how a disease will appear. It will be eradicated by the most complex of medical science procedures, only to reappear after a period of what you call time. The symptom was treated but the problem was not dealt with as part of the medical procedure.

Likewise, within the world of what you call alternatives, symptoms are sometimes corrected and yet the underlying problem remains, so in time the symptoms reappear.

The more that a therapeutic approach combines dealing with a manifest symptom that is visable and interrupting the harmony of the person's life while balancing the person's true innner nature with the unification of his spiritual connection, the more that approach will provide a total solution of supporting true and permanent self-healing with the individual.

US Republican presidential hopeful Rick Santorum won all three republican voting contests last night. Let's just remind our viewers what some of his thoughts are regarding foreign policy and Iran...remember what he said on the campaign trail about nuclear scientists ending up dead being a good thing? He's also advocated airstrikes on nuclear facilities. As we hear the drum beat of war between the West and Iran, we often see war and politics as separate from the economy. They are not. Putting aside the human cost for a moment, which is huge, let's look at the economic cost. The price of economic sanctions, and any conflict for energy...what effect will it have on prices for the basic things that we need, like oil? What effect will this have on an economy already muddling through the dirt? Will countries resort to even more resource wars as a result, and will these lead to currency wars? Well, we have the man that wrote the book on this, James Rickards, in studio with us to talk about just that. He made the rounds on Capitol Hill today, and before heading to the Lion's den, the US Treasury tomorrow, he is here to give us the inside scoop. And speaking of the hill, Ben Bernanke, Federal Reserve Chairman, has been making the rounds himself lately, as he often does. He has been telling lawmakers that he doesn't want higher inflation, and that the Fed's dual mandate should not be confused with a dovish stance on inflation. But do the fed's policies belie those words? To borrow from Jim Rickards, is Bernanke the Lawrence Welk of our time, conducting Fed policy with help from the same bag of tricks...his bubble machine? And really, what does the inflation have to do with unemployment? We learn in economics that the phillips curve works, but does it really, or is it a broken model that economists still use to escape the hardships of living in the real world? Federal Reserve Chairman Ben Bernanke testified before the Senate today - last week he testified before the House - and the media wanted to hear if the "good" US jobs report, which came out since he last spoke, changes anything about monetary policy. The jobs report has been deemed "good" because the headline unemployment number went down a little to 8.3%. Bernanke actually said this understates the weakness of the labor market, but do these monthly numbers matter at all? People who crunch the numbers seem to say no. David Stockman, Ronald Reagan's former budget director in an email that's been made public wrote you basically can pick and choose what you want from the reports to support your thesis but, "In short, if you spend a little time with these numbers you will know that they are being made up." John Mauldin, financial expert was writing about something similar that these numbers are subject to large revisions up or down - so take them with a grain of salt. So if that's the case and the Bureau of Labor Statistics is the emperor wearing no clothes, coming out with these meaningless numbers each month, why are markets and the media glued to them? We will be speaking with Nomi Prins during the show, and will ask her what she things about this purported oddity of markets hanging on news that the may see as highly dubious. And speaking of news the markets and media hang on - Greek leaders are still in talks over a debt deal - and the markets are doing their usual finger-biting as they wait for some "resolution." The Greek government and its Troika "partners" did agree to some more cuts to public workers, but forget the market and look at the reaction on the streets of Greece. Scenes of protesters burning the German flag, chanting "out with the nazis." So how long will Greeks continue to bear the weight of austerity with no light at the end of the tunnel, and bear policies being pushed by people they don't know, working together with politicians they don't trust? Again, we will ask Nomi Prins what she thinks about this, and if she believes that these policies are there to help the people or to help the creditors, and by extension the banks. And in the US 40 states have signed onto a $25 billion dollar settlement with the five biggest banks guilty of foreclosure abuses such as 'robo signing' of documents -- but who would this provide relief to, homeowners? Or big banks. We speak about all of this with Nomi Prins, author of "Black Tuesday" and a former managing director of Goldman Sachs. Plus, is US President Barack Obama a hypocrite for backtracking on Super PAC money (now he wants it) and is the US exerting "extra--territoriality" with regulations on financial markets? With Demetri out sick, the Alyona Show's Alyona Minkovski joins Lauren and Shannon to give her two cents in Loose Change.

February 1 2012 the entire parliamentary group of The Movement of the Icelandic Parliament nominated Private Bradley Manning for the Nobel Peace Prize. Following is the reasoning we sent to the committee explaining why we felt compelled to nominate Private Bradley Manning for this important recognition of an individual effort to have an impact for peace in our world.

Our letter to the Nobel Peace Prize Committee:

We have the great honor of nominating Private First Class Bradley Manning for the 2012 Nobel Peace Prize. Manning is a soldier in the United States army who stands accused of releasing hundreds of thousands of documents to the whistleblower website WikiLeaks. The leaked documents pointed to a long history of corruption, war crimes, and imperialism by the United States government in international dealings. These revelations have fueled democratic uprising around the world, including a democratic revolution in Tunisia. According to journalists, his alleged actions helped motivate the democratic Arab Spring movements, shed light on secret corporate influence on our foreign policies, and most recently contributed to the Obama Administration agreeing to withdraw all U.S.troops from the occupation in Iraq.

Bradley Manning has been incarcerated for well over a year by the U.S. government without a trial. He spent over ten months of that time period in solitary confinement, conditions which experts worldwide have criticized as torturous. Juan Mendez, the United Nations’ Special Rapporteur on Torture and Cruel, Inhuman and Degrading Treatment or Punishment, has repeatedly requested and been denied a private meeting with Manning to assess his conditions.

The documents made public by WikiLeaks should never have been kept from public scrutiny. The revelations – including video documentation of an incident in which American soldiers gunned down Reuters journalists in Iraq – have helped to fuel a worldwide discussion about America’s overseas engagements, civilian casualties of war, imperialistic manipulations, and rules of engagement. Citizens worldwide owe a great debt to the WikiLeaks whistleblower for shedding light on these issues, and so I urge the Committee to award this prestigious prize to accused whistleblower Bradley Manning.

In a world devastated by poverty, austerity cuts, and bank foreclosures, community action like Occupy Oakland’s recent attempt to turn a derelict building into a vibrant social center for the needs of the 99% should be applauded. Instead, the agents of the 1%, in this case the Oakland police – already under investigation for excessive force – once again attacked. Using flash bang grenades, projectiles, batons, tear-gas, and other weapons, police arrested over 400, bringing total US Occupy-related arrests to over 6,300. As the Occupy Oakland Media Committee said:

“With all the problems in our city, should preventing activists from putting a vacant building to better use be their highest priority? Was it worth the hundreds of thousands of dollars they spent?”

Earlier this month, we celebrated 2011 and declared 2012 would be even bigger. One month in, we’re keeping our word, but the corporate media increasingly dismiss Occupy Wall Street as a dying movement. Covering events in Oakland (“Police use teargas on Occupy Oakland protesters”), the Guardian described OWS as “largely dormant lately.” The Washington Post stated that the Oakland protest had broken the “lull” in OWS.

But we aren’t dormant; we're escalating. The only lull has been in the media coverage of our continuing struggle to create a more just world for all. While the corporate media have shifted focus to the U.S. Republican primaries and Presidential election, government agents of the 1% continue their assault on Occupy camps - inventing new PR-friendly excuses like the "no camping" rule used to rip apart Occupy DC - to dismantle not only our rights, but our homes.

The corporate-funded political status quo, including corporate-funded news coverage, benefits the 1% at the expense of the 99%. This is exactly why the corporate media would rather run speeches by Presidential candidates (all millionaires) than stories of members of the 99% taking direct action to create economic justice, like our comrades in Oakland and DC who are peacefully fighting for their beliefs only to be attacked by police, or the many OWS supporters in cities across the country who are taking direct action to help keep low-income families in their homes by resisting unfair evictions and foreclosures. Our movement to create real democracy and and economic fairness is far more newsworthy than the tired rhetoric and false hope of the Republicans or Democrats.

Bank-beholden politicians created this economic crisis. No matter who wins the U.S. Presidential election circus, only direct action - not the same politics-as-usual - can rebuild democracy and justice. And make no mistake: such transformative revolutionary action is continuing to unfold in every corner of the United States, and across the globe, and no amount of "camping bans" can stop us. Let’s take a closer look by examining a few of the major Occupy stories and actions of the past month that the corporate media would rather dismiss than cover by debunking their myths about OWS.

Widespread Protests Are Starting to Turn the Tide Against Anti-Democratic Bill

The widespread protests against the anti-democracy bill ACTA by the Polish people have forced Poland’s prime minister to stall – or perhaps even back out – of the treaty. As TechDirt notes:

Following the growing protests about ACTA in Europe, as well as signs of US meddling, Poland’s prime minister is making it clear that Poland will not ratify ACTA for the time being, leading to speculation that the EU may not actually join ACTA.

"Tusk’s backtracking could spell the end of ACTA for the entire European Union. If Poland or any other EU member state, or the European Parliament itself, fails to ratify the document, it becomes null and void across the union. As it stands, there are already five member countries that have not even signed ACTA.

“I share the opinions of those who from the beginning said that consultations were not complete,” Tusk said, according to a report in Wirtualna Polska. The 54-year-old prime minister added that a Polish rejection of ACTA is now on the table, and admitted that he had previously approached the agreement from a “20th century” perspective, due to his age.

The Slovenian ambassador to Japan has apologized to her country and her children for signing ACTA, saying she signed it because her government told her to, and “out of civic carelessness” in not bothering to understand what ACTA meant before signing it.

LA Protesters Protest War Threats Against Iran on February 4, 2012

Hundreds of demonstrators are gathering in Los Angeles for a "No War on Iran" rally.

Press TV's Ross Frasier reports from Los Angeles.

There was a total news blackout of these events by Swedish media, so I was glad to see it was at least covered on youtube.

Anti-war activists across the United States and Canada have held rallies to protest at US and Israeli warmongering policies against Iran, Press TV reports.

The demonstrations were staged on Saturday in 60 cities across the US, including Washington DC, New York, Boston, Chicago, Philadelphia and San Francisco. In Canada, protests were held in Calgary and Vancouver.

The protests were organized by a coalition of about 60 pacifist and human rights groups.

The demonstrators censured any possible military action against Iran, saying that any such measure could result in dire consequences including escalated war in the Middle East and Northern Africa.

The activists also demanded an end to sanctions against Tehran, referring to the embargoes as a war against the Iranian people.

In Washington DC, dozens of protesters amassed in front of the White House, chanting “NO sanctions, No war” and “Iran is a sovereign state.”

In New York, around 500 protesters assembled at Manhattan's Times Square and rallied toward the headquarters of the US mission to the United Nations and the Israeli consulate, holding a large banner that read “No war, no sanctions, no intervention, no assassinations."

Elsewhere in Los Angeles, the demonstrators wore orange prison jumpsuits and black hoods similar to Guantanamo detainees in protest at Washington's aggressive policies.

Similar events were also planned in Britain, Ireland and India.

The United States, Israel, and some of their allies accuse Tehran of pursuing military objectives in its nuclear program, and have used this pretext to push for international and unilateral sanctions against Tehran.

Washington and Tel Aviv have also repeatedly threatened Tehran with the "option" of a military strike over its nuclear program.

Iran refutes the Western allegations and insists that its nuclear program has a peaceful nature. The Islamic Republic also argues that as a signatory to the nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty and a member of the International Atomic Energy Agency, it has every right to develop and acquire nuclear technology for peaceful purposes.

The creation of the euro zone may have given participants one currency, but it created other problems as well. One interest rate was supposed to fit all. Those sovereigns on the financial periphery of the 17 nations found low interest rates too good to be true. As a result, the borrowed funds they shouldn’t have borrowed to finance current debt, was thrown off by the economy. During the 1990s we wrote that one interest rate for all would destroy the euro, but as usual no one wanted to listen. The reason was simple, each nation was and is at a different stage of development and a nation paying 2% rates could now borrow at 4%, which is a giant difference. As debt grew the credit crisis occurred and the rules changed externally. As rates rose sovereigns got into more and more trouble.

European banks were allowed to purchase sovereign bonds leveraged at 40 to one versus their existing capital. Normal prudent leverage is 9 to one. That means any sort of trouble was mega trouble. The result of this is what you are seeing today.

That is why Greece and others are in such trouble today. The banks created too much money and in their greed buried themselves and the sovereigns who the bankers know should have never had those loans in the first place. The result of the bank lending and political borrowing has led to the current state of affairs, insolvency. The size of debt cannot be sustained.

In the case of Greece, discussions are talking in terms of defaulting on 70% of debt, which we do not believe will solve the problem. Greece will have 50 years of austerity and poverty, all this to remain in the euro zone where hopelessly they cannot compete. If they can’t compete why would they stay in the euro zone? It is all about Greek leadership and its connection to bureaucrats, bankers and others that demand their inclusion into world government.

As of late interest rates have been falling from their lofty heights with the help of a $1 trillion loan from the Federal Reserve. We suppose that will continue over the next year. The rates will depend on internal events as well as external. Pushing against interest rates will be inflation, massive money creation, growing debt, stagnant economies, the threat of Greece, Ireland, Portugal, Belgium, Spain and Italy going into default and a possible lack of credit that will restrict world trade. Lenders already see European banks cutting back in the commercial loan area as the spectra of tariffs, particularly in Europe and England stalk our world. A reflection of the above is that European banks won’t even lend to each other, due to lack of trust. The EU and the euro zone were bad ideas from the very beginning. It has been one vast orgy of spending, debt, and trade imbalances, showcased in all the profligacy of banking. Germany is in a really difficult spot, austerity reins, losses from bond holdings face them, and the weak countries such as Greece need even more money to survive. If Germany lends and funds losses they can extend the game. If they do not the system comes unglued. If you look at the numbers you will see that Portugal is where Greece was last year and that Italy is where Portugal was last year. Thus, if little changes it could be that along with Spain they could fail one after another year by year and they probably will. That will allow the bankers to greatly string out their problems, which they are very adept at doing. A country like Greece even with a 70% debt write off, and staying in the euro, as we have said before, will live in poverty for the next 25 to 50 years. A full default and exit from the euro would leave them with a 5 to 10 year depression. At first the latter will be disastrous. The barter system and a rampant black market will flourish. Then austere normality will occur. The next Greek election is two months away and the opposition has been dragging their feet trying to get more bailout support and then put their own touch on to develop the future.

If Greece does a partial default they will be on life support for years within the euro zone. Their partners won’t like it, but their thought process is aid in perpetuity in exchange for economic and financial existence, as a part of the euro zone – EU units. EU members know that if Greece leaves, Portugal and Ireland will follow, perhaps followed by Belgium, Spain and Italy. If that happens the EU could fail and the Illuminists’ dream of world government could end. Yes, there is no doubt in our minds that the Greeks are stalling until their April election. In the meantime they want Germany to financially carry them. We do not see any option for Germany but to carry them. Otherwise, the euro and EU may blow-up as a result of that default. All these noises that Germany is making are for show. They know what we know. The euro zone position is weak and they know it. Greece fails and the avalanche follows, as Portugal and Ireland follow the same path.

Making things more difficult are the French elections. Can France’s Sarkozy and Merkel’s Germany take the political risk of saving Greece at this late date? Yes, we think they have too. The loss of Greece, Ireland and Portugal would cause chaos and they know it. Thus, there will be a stopgap financing before the end of March. Waiting in the wings are the debt of Spain and Italy of some $4 trillion. Italy has to roll $455 billion in current debt this year. Does one think that is possible? We think Italy and Spain will use ECB loans to roll their bonds and fund their governments. That means that debt is really being transferred from respective governments to the ECB, which is to the people. The next year, 2013, the same could happen – it’s either the Fed supplies more money or the banks fractionalize. There is no question the sovereigns would choose the ECB because of 1% interest rates and the reluctance of the ECB to call default on the loans. Needless to say, such actions would cause the euro to decline versus all currencies and particularly versus gold and silver. You can see again why you do not want to be in currencies.

A human vocation comes in as many forms as there are ways of contributing one’s share to society by expressing one’s own capabilities as a human being. It enables and obliges the provision of universal life necessities for others, and realizes oneself as human. It is the ultimate human life good and necessity because it links the rights of people to universal human goods to their obligation to contribute to them – the bridge from individual to society, is to ought, and humanity’s development to better. It bonds from within and calls from without as the human vocation linking the individual and society rather than dividing them.

No need and capacity so defines human being, and yet no universal life good is more alienated from us within the money capitalist system. Work is a “disutility” to all ruling economic doctrine since Adam Smith, and only its selling for a price counts as work. It is here most fundamentally that humanity’s meaning is turned upside down. Grotesque consequences of economic organisation follow such as disqualifying the most basic economic contributions such as homecare and child upbringing as not work because it has not been bought and sold.

The obligation of contributory work for the society and world which host one’s life is not coercive for life-value understanding. It is grounded in humanity’s deepest need - to do what is of value to others and meaningful to oneself. This is in truth what makes human beings different from two-legged animals. Two-legged animals are identical with their self-desires in the individual, and are unconnected to each other by rules for mutual life-good provision within herd and peck-orders. This non-human state admits of degrees, but almost all societies we know today are bound in this direction by the ruling system of all competing against one another for means of existence and private profit.

While almost anyone can recognise the human vocation to produce life-value for others beyond self as undeniable –what drives every self-realising occupation - this human vocation has long been conditioned out of conscious recognition. It gets lost in atomic concepts of “self-respect”, or is directly reversed by market doctrine that conceives real work as only what others buy. This onto-axiology thus presupposes a kind of enslavement – one’s vital hours are sold to another as a commodity with no human rights in trade treaties which regulate the world’s ‘economies’.

Constructive activity to produce life-value for others – what we are impelled to do if we are healthy human beings – is thus erased as a form of life and motivation in the market order. While it remains in teaching, health-care and other professions not yet subverted by private money-sequence subjugation, it grows ever scarcer in the macro global system. Revealingly all the while, global-market corporations never stop telling us that they do what they do is for us. They obliquely recognise this condition of human being, but it has been driven into the life-unconscious at the theoretical level.

Or imagine this…taking from the military killas and drug dealas to invest back into the school so that we are certain that mama doesn’t raise a fool

Even a possibility that we can cause the military to give back our unpolluted environment stop the burning of gas from jets and scarring the land in which it treads

That’s it…I cant take it much longer…this is what I will do…

No my children… for you know not what you do…your heart will stay beating today

I will take that damn drum and throw it away

I will protest at every parade to remind everyone of what we are praising on that day

No longer be tricked by propaganda because knowledge is my power

Im stopping the witch hunt there is another underground railroad here at bay

I will use my voice to make sure I practice my rights to be heard in how I should best be governed

I will not contribute to the military killas and drug dealas and invest in my local schools because this mama isnt and raises no fools

There is a great controversy raging between good and evil at the soda fountain or pop machine but the general public does not seem to be aware of it. The consequences of the dietary changes that have occurred since the introduction of artificial sweeteners into our lives since the early 1980's has likely increased dramatically but in many cases, silently. However, there is a coterie of medical doctors and research scientists that are aware of the effects and have published volumes. Unfortunately, their voices are largely drowned out by the industry.

As in politics and other endeavors where mind-control plays a prominent role, advertising and propaganda are the most effective tools of those who are pitching a program or a product. The reasons for large infusions of cash could be to cover corporate wrongdoing, agency corruption, incompetency or just to hide plain carelessness but usually, profit motive is the driving force.

Ethical business practices should promote periodic reviews but it appears that the only aspartame reviews have been on the annual reports. Of course, there are reports of side effects but why would that not have triggered an ongoing review by the agency responsible for approval in the first place? The FDA says that they monitor scientific literature for indication of potential health issues but they are not aware of credible evidence at this time to reverse the approval of aspartame. Perhaps they have not heard of Dr. Morando Soffritti?

On April 23, 2007, Morando Soffritti, MD was honored with the Collegium Ramazzini's third Irving J. Selikoff Award at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine in New York, USA. Dr. Soffritti was recognized for his "outstanding contributions to the identification of environmental and industrial carcinogens and his promotion of independent scientific research.”

The attitude of the FDA and industry would present the case that the only credible scientific evidence comes from government agencies or from corporate sources. Danger signs anyone? Could it be that we are so taken in by the all-encompassing custodial nature of total government that we have lost the ability to think and act on matters that concern our most vital possession, our health?

On a personal level there is no in-between on diet drinks, either you like them or you hate them. No matter what the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) says or what any critical medical study shows, people are fiercely loyal to their diet drinks. There are also unimaginable numbers of other products that contain aspartame besides diet drinks but these products do not generate the intense loyalty as the fizzy cola thirst-quenchers. Included in these unnecessarily altered products are medicines, toothpaste, yogurt, baked goods and other specialty drinks.

Commercialism forges ahead of good science and another man-made substance of questionable value has been added to the food chain. The detractors don't buy it but those addicted purchase it with an irrational compulsion. Like those with a narcotic habit, they don't seem to mind paying to satisfy the craving. And pay they do, to the tune of billions of dollars a year.

Just what is this magical potion, aspartame? It is a combination of methanol and two amino acids, phenylalanine and aspartic acid. In 1965, James Schlattler, a chemist working at G.D. Searle discovered the substance quite by accident while working on a drug for another medical purpose. It was found to be many, many times sweeter than sugar but without the calories.

The chemistry of aspartame as it breaks down in the human body is well documented but acceptance of the science depends on one's alliance with the industry or with the skeptic side. Regardless of one's position on the subject, metabolism of aspartame in the human body and the side-effects, or lack thereof, continues to be a intensely controversial subject.

National Institutes of Health (NIH) describes a metabolite as any substance produced during metabolism (digestion or other bodily chemical processes). In medical terms, a metabolite usually refers to the product that remains after the drug is broken down (metabolized) by the body.

Virtually all industry funded studies discount any adverse effects of aspartame metabolites. Typical “friendly” clinical reviews of aspartame toxicity will most likely find the authors are closely related to the producers of aspartame. Conversely, and almost without fail, independent studies claim serious and deleterious consequences as result of aspartame consumption.

Loosing the ability to think and reason for him or herself, the child begins to enter the world of dull mindedness and dull emotions. Those who resist are quickly vaccinated and medicated into submission. For drugs dull the senses and weaken the will of Man.

Medical science is nothing more than one of the many tools used to enslave the mind and emotions and weaken and sicken the human form. For Man was once a strong and healthy entity capable of advanced thought and feeling who has devolved into a semi or half conscious and aware individual that has been so poisoned in body and mind as to lack the will to evolve.

A few dare and a few make it out of their prisons due to the inherent strength of will that has never been broken by those of dark determination. More will awaken and revive their strength and good sense as they reconnect to Self.

Be bold and fear not. Arise and feel again yourSelf and reconnect to Heaven and Earth. See the beauty that abounds and transform back to your original intentions that directed all before this age of darkness came to be.
